Kimberly Han’s short Champion required a swarm of ants that were, predictably, refusing to take direction. Since a full 3D creature pipeline wasn’t feasible for the production’s timeline, we had to find a smarter way to wrangle them. We developed a creative 2D-driven solution to animate and composite the “actors” into place, achieving the required scale and movement without the overhead of a heavy CG build. It’s a great example of choosing the right tool for the job to keep the story moving.
